Gaming for When You Don’t Have a Player 2

by, Vaughn “Big Papi” Collins

Another year and we made it to another Valentine’s Day! You know, the day where you can confess your love to someone or spend it doing grand romantic gestures for your significant other. It’s a day made for companionship and all things lovey dovey. Although if you are like me (the only eligible bachelor out of the whole Pixelated Rampage crew) you might not have someone to spend Valentine’s Day with. That is perfectly fine because Big Papi has you covered. I got a list of games you can play that will give you that warm and fuzzy feeling or is just a fantastic time all around that will give you fond memories. Some of the games on my list might not be “romantic” in the sense but like previously stated, they will provide fond memories and help keep you company while you are riding solo.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Okay, hear me out. This game is is completely over the top with lightning fast sword play and an even better rock soundtrack. Playing this game will only result with you feeling like an absolute beast destroying anyone who just so happens to get in your incredibly cool sword. Granted the game could be a little linear and could be beaten in just a few hours if you know what you are doing but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself  in that sitting. Afterall, you are a man out for revengeance, on Valentine’s Day. Whatever that means…

Nier Automata

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a sentient robot in a world without humans? How about did you ever want to play a strong female character that is also amazing with various swords and other weapons? Nier Automata might be the game for you. Here you play as an android called 2B trying to find herself in a world of robots that have either run wild and are dangerous or they have started their own peaceful society. From there you could either choose to save those robots or just eliminate them all. You could even just choose a neutral path if you’d like. The choice is yours since there are a ton of endings that you could get as well. This makes Nier Automata the perfect game to just lose yourself for Valentine’s Day and then subsequent weeks.

Any of the Kingdom Hearts

Kingdom Hearts is all about friendship and love which is pretty much everything about Valentine’s Day. You can really just pick anyone game in the entire franchise and you will have a great time running around and vanquishing the Heartless to save all of the Disney themed worlds from the Darkness. Be the hero for the friends that you make and create unbreakable bonds with people like Aladdin, Peter Pan, and even Final Fantasy characters such as Leon. Yes I know it sounds incredibly corny but who doesn’t like to make new friends on a great day like Valentine’s Day?

Okay hear me out about Doom. Yes, it is a game where you fight literal demons from hell. You also destroy hellspawns from abyss in the goriest ways possible. Oh and yes, you will hear some great rocking music that pretty much perfectly compliment the fast paced destruction that you cause. That is not such a bad thing though. Maybe your Valentine’s Day was a rough one because your heart got stomped or you just are feeling down because it was a rough day at work. That is why I recommend Doom. You can vent out all your frustrations and worries in a fantastic fashion and bits of bad guys go flying every which way. Trust me, you will feel better once you jump off a ledge to stomp a guys face in.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

I cannot stress how good this game actually is. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a surprise hit from Ubisoft and Nintendo. The game is pretty much XCOM meets the Mario world. You have to save the Mushroom Kingdom from the hordes of merged items such as the a rabbit version of Donkey Kong. All the while you have to carefully pick your team of your favorite iconic Mario characters and they rabbit counterparts. Now you might be thinking how is this a game you can play on Valentine’s Day. The simple answer if that you can literally spend hours on end trying to find the best combinations of characters to maximize your damage potential or even just to survive a deadly boss. It is a massive distraction from everything because as soon as you start playing Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle you will lose hours of the day completely distracting you from the outside world or anything else for that matter. Who needs Valentine’s Day when you have Rabbit Peach (who is one of the best characters which in my opinion).

The Wrap Up

I hope everyone has a fun and exciting Valentine’s Day!

And there you have it! This is just a list of games that will distract you from everything going on during Valentine’s Day. Either it will help you to just ignore it completely or it will help you get that warm and fuzzy feeling on the inside. I know some of these games are a bit of a stretch like Doom, but it is about having fun with a game. These games will be your Valentine if you do not already have one. Even if you don’t celebrate/participate in Valentine’s Day that doesn’t mean you still can’t have fun with a good game. They will never leave you and will always be there for you in your time of need. If anything that is the true definition of love.
